Sammi Cheng Bursted In Tears In Mongolia

Sammi Cheng went with World Vision to visit Mongolia on 20 October. The temperature was 10 degree below freezing in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. They wanted to find out how the poor people actually live in such a condition. They were hoping to help to sponsor some children and give them blessing and hope. Due to the poor weather and bad economy, there are many families in Mongolia live in extreme poverty. Many parents couldn't stand the pressure of being destitute, they turn to alcohol and neglect their children. There are many children wonder around in the street. Sammi found some children inside a dirty underground drain. When she opened up the drain cover, she found children living with cockroaches crawling all over the place. The children used two big cardboards on the draining pipe for them to sit on. That is their hide out for the day. After Sammi crawled inside the underground drain, the smell was so horrible. She was in a state of shock and bursted into tears. She felt "Out of poverty is their only hope". She decided there and than, she would sponsor 10 children including an 8 year old Sa Kei 沙基 and his two cousins.

Sa Kei 's step father is an alcoholic, he beat him up all the time. His aunt pity him so she took him under her wing. But his aunt's husband is in prison, so she has to support three children on her own. She picked rubbish up everyday for a living. The children never had a bath in their lives. Sammi and the worker helped built them a new a Mongolian Ger and gave all the children a bath and new clothes.
